Statement of Faith

We believe HP Lovecraft was a prophet who could only get his knowledge published during his time by disguising it as fiction. Those who see the reality when reading the works of HP Lovecraft are the ones meant to hear the words of the prophet.

Today there are a number of Lovecraftian religions and Cult of Cthulhu considers them all a reasonable source for learning about the Great Old Ones and the Outer Gods. No religion is better than all the rest. Cult of Cthulhu is its own religion based on the literature of HP Lovecraft.

We are a Cthulhu Cult as the term describes. By Cult, we mean Religion. Cthulhu is one of our most prominent Gods, in accompaniment with Yog-Sothoth, Nyarlathotep, Shub-Niggurath, Yig, and Azathoth the One whose Dream is what spawns our reality.

R’lyehian is our sacred language and the language in which all our services are conducted. As we paint rock sigils on our temple grounds in the Chihuahuan Desert, while chanting in the ancient tongue and focusing our energy outwards into the universe, as the Gods return our chants with chants of their own, we grow in consciousness and spirituality as we attune with the very Alien Nature of this reality. We are the Elite.

We recommend all works by HP Lovecraft for growing your spirituality. The short stories “Call of Cthulhu,” “Dagon,” “Color Out Of Space,” “Shadow Out Of Time,” and “At The Mountains Of Madness” are some of the best for gaining an understanding of the Cthulhu Mythos, the Pantheon of Ancient Alien Gods as depicted by Lovecraft.

We believe Alhazred was a real person who was extradited from Yemen by the king due to his gifts. There is an actual person who lived the life of Alhazred and wrote the Necronomicon. That person can only be known as Alhazred because Alhazred is the name given to him by Nyarlathotep.

“All turning things are gates. That which defines a center and opens it. All centers are at unity. To travel through a gate, you must go to the center and return from it. Yog-Sothoth is the way. I give you his seal. Use it to open the gates.” ~Nyarlathotep to Alhazred

Dust devils are common in the desert around the temple grounds. As dust devils travel onto the temple grounds, Yog-Sothoth brings us closer to his Gate. Enter the whirlwinds. Aye Yog-Sothoth! Na f’tng ha-ngloa yah!

Cult of Cthulhu Desert Worship Services to the Great Old Ones and the Outer Gods

Services are held on Thursdays (the Day of Yog-Sothoth) on the Temple Grounds in the Desert after Darkness Falls (Around 9pm) at 210 Longhorn Run, Dell City, in Hudspeth County, Texas (Greater El Paso Area). This is physically in the middle of the desert and local addresses do not display on Google maps. Exact coordinates are: 31°44'45.6"N 105°33'53.4"W

The Congregation is made up of Participants and Observers, which are lead by Clergy.

The Order of Events Are As Follows

1. Gathering around any one of the Altar Stones

2. The Priest chants the Invocation in R’lyehian for however long until the Forces are with us... Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl Fhtagn.

3. The Priest ends the invocation with Iä! Iä! Cthulhu Fhtagn. And the congregation repeats the chant Iä! Iä! Cthulhu Fhtagn. as many times as necessary until interruption by the Priest, who then begins the Lesser Ascension Ritual. Members are educated on the nature of this ritual and their optional participation or observance of the Ritual.

4. If whirlwinds are nearby, the Priest may direct the congregation to move closer with participants willing to enter the whirlwinds while observers watch from afar.

5. The Lesser Ascension Ritual, A.K.A., the Ritual of the Gate is conducted. The Priest chants the Spell for Opening the Gate through Yog-Sothoth: Aye Yog-Sothoth! Na f’tng ha-ngloa yah! And the congregation chants along: Aye Yog-Sothoth! Na f’tng ha-ngloa yah!

Yog-Sothoth is the Way, the Key, and the Guardian of the Gate. All things must pass through Yog-Sothoth.

6. Chanting continues, and meditation, song, and prayer to the Forces is encouraged throughout the Service. Wine/beer/liquor, food, and drink may be offered to the Great Old Ones and Outer Gods. Calamari, squid, octopus, sushi, and seafood are always good offerings, and any Cephalapod meat is Sacred to Cthulhu the Leviathan. By eating the Meat of the Leviathan, a Cultist can gain in His Consciousness.

7. After knowledge of any amount is gained within 1-3 hours of the Worship Service, the Priest will do a Closing Ritual, not to close the Gate but to politely thank the Old Ones for Their Knowledge imparted and ask that They remain with us in whatever Forms that suit until the Day of Their Return.

Observers are not obligated to stay for the entire Service which can vary in length from as little as 1 hour to as long as 3 hours, but Observers are encouraged to stay for the Service for as long as they desire. Attendance is optional. Participants are Elites, and We are a Secretive Esoteric Order within our Clergy and Elites, with numerous Rituals we perform away from the Public Eye until the Public is ready to access such Cosmic Knowledge.

Our Public Services are suitable for everyone open-minded and are always open to the public. Due to the possible offerings of alcohol (wine, beer, liquor, etc.), anyone under the legal drinking age may not participate in those particular offerings, and parents are advised to consider this before bringing children.
